Laois Transition Year students set to bring "Grease" to life

Portlaois e College will perform Grease next week

Portlaoise College's Transition Year students are ready to take the stage with their highly anticipated production of Grease.

The performances will take place at the Dunamaise Arts Centre on Wednesday and Thursday, February 5 and 6, 2025, starting at 7:30pm.

Directed by Mr Whelehan and Mr Hogan, with choreography by Niamh Ahern, this exciting adaptation of the beloved musical features a talented cast of students. Leading the production are Jordan McGee as Danny and Charlee Talbot as Sandy, supported by Pola Nowicka as Rizzo, Keelin Moore as Frenchy, and Aaron Keenan as Kenickie. The ensemble is rounded out by an enthusiastic group of performers playing the iconic "Pink Ladies" and "Burger Palace Boys".

Musical directors Mr Harvey and Ms Wilson have worked diligently with the students, ensuring a high-quality performance. Speaking about the production, Mr Harvey said: “It’s been a fantastic journey seeing the students grow in confidence and skill as they take on these challenging roles.”

“The energy and commitment from the cast have been truly inspiring, and we can’t wait for the audience to see their hard work come to life,” Ms Wilson added.

That the production comes alive and looks unerringly like the original production is in no small part down to the fantastic costumes for the show, which are managed by Ms Kennedy, ensuring a vibrant and era-appropriate visual appeal.

Don’t miss this chance to enjoy a fun-filled evening of music, dance, and timeless storytelling. Book your tickets early to avoid the disappointment of missing the once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness these talented students.
