A Laois town is abuzz with excitement in the lead up to a local secondary school's annual musical.
Mountrath Community School is preparing to lift the curtain in St Philomena’s Hall on its upcoming production of the award-winning musical 'Come From Away'.
Transition Year students have been rehearsing daily in the school canteen and the local hall, with many working behind the scenes on prop designs and PR for the musical.

First staged in 2017, Come From Away is based on real events that unfolded in the days following September 11, 2001.
When airspace over the United States was suddenly closed, 38 international flights were diverted to the small town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada. Almost overnight, the town’s population of just under 10,000 was joined by nearly 7,000 unexpected visitors from all over the world.
The students and staff of Mountrath Community School have been working hard behind the scenes to bring this inspiring story to life, from rehearsals and choreography to set design and music.
Directed by Paul Nippy Norton, with musical direction from Anne-Marie Lawlor and choreographed by Julianne McNamara, this production promises to wow audiences.
"The students are all very excited and enthusiastic," teacher Ciara Nolan told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"All TY students are involved in some aspect - from backstage to front of house. We are so lucky to have St Philomena's Hall at our disposal, it is a fantastic resource," she praised.
While students work hard behind the scenes, other students are hard at work learning off their lines. The cast includes students Jane Allen, Bailey Campion, Lucie Flynn, Aisling Kiernan, Lily Melvin, Erin O Brien, Clodagh Wong, Mia Cuddy, Saoirse Cordial Lambe, Alison Connolly, Kaela O Connor, Alex Gill Higgins, Glenn Brady, Dennis Phelan, Corey Carroll, Ethan Davy, Billy Bohan, Hugo O Neill, Sean Dowling, Alex Kirwan, Dillon Fitzpatrick and Darragh Fahy Kelly.
As opening night approaches, excitement is building for what is sure to be a memorable theatrical event.
