Dublin City University award for Heywood Community School graduate

There was another proud moment for Heywood Community School in Laois recently.

Brendan Kelly Palenque from Ballyragget, a graduate of the co-ed secondary school in Ballinakill, was presented with a €500 Academic Scholarship to study at Dublin City University.

The award is in recognition of his achieving more than 550 points in the 2017 Leaving Certificate.

Over €60,000 worth of scholarships were presented to 123 fresher students at DCU this year.

Brendan who is studying journalism at DCU, was joined at the ceremony in the Helix by Heywood deputy principal Peter Malone.

Each student received a commemorative certificate and Heywood received a plaque for display in the school.
