Parents in Portlaoise are invited to an open day at Gaelscoil Phortlaoise to see if they would it would like to give their children the opportunity to be educated through Irish.
Lá Oscalite Gaelscoil Phortlaoise - takes place at the school which is located at the new Summerhill school campus on the link road between the Stradbally and Timahoe Roads.
The school for boys and girls, has 16 classrooms, six learning support rooms, a PE hall, a playground and a library. There are 16 teachers - 12 classroom teachers and four learning support and resource teachers.
Dominic Ó Braonán is the principal of the school which was established in 1998. The school moved into a new building in 2013. There were nearly 300 children enrolled in 2016/17 school year.
The open day takes place on Thursday, January 18. Doors open 3-6pm. For parents interested in education through Irish. Fáilte roimh - all welcome.
