Transition Year students at Portlaoise College enjoyed a trip in Lake Garda in Italy.
Their three day trip began at dawn on April 9 with a flight to Milan, Bergamo, and straight into a bus tour of the little town of Sirmione, and a boat tour of Lake Garda amnog beautiful scenery.
The group then had some time for a stroll and gelatos.
“It is the best ice-cream I've ever had,” noted student Kate O'Connor.
They then retired to Hotel San Zeno for the night.
On day two there was a 6.30am start for some breakfast and shopping in a centre outside Venice.
Then it was onto Venice, where the ban on cars meant they got a metro into the city, and then a water taxi to St Mark's Square.
“This was a very interesting way for us to see the may bridges and rivers running through Venice. The water was very busy with lots of boats,” said Kate.
The group took a walking tour of the impressive St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark's Square and the marketplace.
On day three they visited the ‘Gardaland’ themepark for the day , before catching their flight home that night.
“It was a really fun trip and we all made great memories together,” Kate said on hehalf of her classmates.
