Laois schools set to hit the high notes with Christmas musicals

Talent of Laois secondary schools shines in festive season

Heywood Community School Musical.

The cream of young talent will be on show in Laois in the run up to Christmas at school musicals and concerts. 

Mountmellick Community School gets the show on the road with their production the musical extravaganza 'All Night Long'.

The show will be staged in the school on Wednesday and Thursday, November 28 & 29 at 7.15pm. 

All are welcome to come along and relive the music of the 80s. tickets from the school office or Gorman’s. Adult €10. Concessions €6 (MCS students, u12s and over 65s). Family €25 (2 adults & 2 children).

Staff and students at Heywood Community School in Ballinakill present 'Grease' on Thursday & Friday on November 29 & 30 at 8 pm. 

Tickets available at the school or at the door on nights of the show. Family tickets (two adults, two children) €28. Adults €10 Students and OAP’s  €8.

The TY students at Scoil Chriost Rí Portlaoise stage their pre-Christmas performance of the classic 'High School Musical' on December, 11,12 & 13 in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise. Tickets are now available from €10- €12.

Portlaoise College students add to the festive fun on the yellow brick road with the staging of The Wizard of Oz. The cast includes students from 1st year to 5th year who are supported by teachers in what should be a great production.

The musical will be staged on Thursday & Friday, December 6-7 with doors open at 7 pm each night. Tickets are €10 for adults and €5 for children and OAPs. They can be purchased at All Books in Lyster Square or from the school office.

Students at Coláiste Íosagáin in Portarlington will also tread the boards with a staging of the musical 'Legally Blonde'. More than 150 students are involved in what is sure to be a fabulous production.

The musical runs from Wednesday to Friday, December 5-7. Showtime is 7.30pm and tickets are on sale in the school.

Meanwhile, Gaelscoil Shlí Dála is holding a fundraising concert in St. Molua's Church, Ballaghmore on Saturday 15th December. The "In Tune For Life Orchestra" will appear with the pupils of Gaelscoil for an evening of wonderful music and song.

Tickets at a cast of €20 are available from the school on  050541810,  Phelan's Shop and from parents.
