LOETB hosted an Open Morning this Friday
There was significant interest in LOETB's Open Morning which took this Friday at LOETB Portarlington Further Education and Training Centre.
We offer PLC Courses and also Level 6 and return to education courses.
These include:
Business Studies QQI level 5 Full Award
Our business course has the right subject combination to allow you to apply to a year 2 in business degree.
Nursing studies QQI level 5 Major Award
This provides students with the necessary conditions to progress into nursing degrees in third level colleges.
"Maynooth University will offer a nursing degree from 2025 and is also exploring the possibility of starting a medical school.
Half of places will be reserved for those who have come via further education, rather than the CAO."
Applied Social Studies QQI level 5 Major Award and Component Award
Great foundation for anyone wanting to progress onto a career in Social Care or onto our QQI level 6 Social and Vocational Integration.
Students can apply for SUSI grants to attend Portarlington Further Education and Training Centre.
We also offer return to education courses such as:
Healthcare Support QQI Level 5 QQI Major Award and Component Award
This prepares students to work as healthcare assistants and offers the opportunity to progress into various health and care areas in third level colleges.
Special Needs Assistant (SNA) QQI Level 5 and Level 6 Component Awards
This course equips students to develop the skills needed for the role of special needs assistant.
Fashion Design QQI Level 5 Component Award
Students will learn the essential sewing techniques to design and sew their own garment along with exploring the many facets of the fashion industry.
Return to Learning QQI Level 4 Major Award and Component Award
Learners are provided with the opportunity to develop skills to pursue a range of employment opportunities or to undertake further education and training in the centre.
This course is a foundation for further progression in learning and employment and is particularly suited for students returning to education after a long break or early school leavers. An introduction to healthcare, business and childcare is provided.

IPASS- The Irish Payroll Association of Ireland QQI Level 6
This is the leading payroll qualification in Ireland and is delivered in two stages throughout the year.
Accounting Technicians of Ireland Part-Time Funded Through The Skills to Advance Programme NFQ Level 6 Certificate for the Accounting Technicians of Ireland and the Diploma for the Accounting Technicians Year 2 (3 evenings per week)
This programme provides students with a professional qualification from the Accounting Technicians of Ireland.
Those who attended the Open Morning were able to to explore the many options available to them and to ask any questions to the brilliant teachers who were available on the morning to answer any queries and to advise you how to apply for any of the courses.
