Leinster Colleges success for Niamh

Last year’s All-Ireland U-17 champion Niamh Dunne (Scoil Mhuire, Johnstown) made a very positive start to 2014 when she captured the Girls Leinster Colleges title by defeating Kate Dagg (Leixlip) in last week’s final

The final proved to be an exciting affair between two evenly matched players. In a close first game where the lead changed hands several times, it was Niamh who eventually came out on top showing the greater composure to edge it on a scoreline of 21-19.

Niamh showed her battling qualities in the second game and overpowered her opponent to take the title 21-19 21-12. Niamh will be optimistic that she can make amends for last year and capture the 2014 All-Ireland Colleges title.
