Laois Community Games held its first meeting of 2014 at the Heath Community Hall on Tuesday, January 21.
The first phase of events for 2014 are as follows.
Art - All area art competitions are to be completed but not judged by February 17. Pictures completed by children from outside your area can be brought to the County Meeting on February 17 for distribution to relevant areas. Area Art should be judged by February 24 and the county art final will take place on March 15.
Art titles are as follows: U-10s can draw anything Community Games related.
U-12, U-14 & U-16 must choose from one of the following Badminton, Basketball, Draughts, Gaelic Football, Group Singing, Handball (1 wall), Hurdles, Javelin, Judo, Swimming.
Handwriting - The County Finals will take place on Friday, February 7 from 6-7pm at Emo National School. This event is open entry.
The February 17 county meeting will also be the deadline for entries for Badminton, Handball (one wall), Draughts, Chess, Table Tennis, Indoor Soccer and Modelmaking.
There are a number of changes to events in this years rule boo.. The major changes to be aware of are :
1. Each child can only compete in one individual, one team, and one squad or relay at National Community Games.
2. Following on from the last meeting of the Board of Directors of National Community Games. There are no participants signatures required on panel sheets for 2014.
The County Talents finals have been booked to take place on Saturday, April 12 at the Mountmellick Community Arts Centre staring time will be dependent on the number of entries. Leinster Final dates will be confirmed shortly.
