Stradbally end Portlaoise's ten-in-a-row dream with dramatic late goal

Stradbally have ended Portlaoise's dream of ten in a row with a dramatic late goal by Jody Dillon handing them an incredible one point victory, deep into injury time in the senior football championship. The final score was Stradbally 2-10, Portlaoise 1-12.

Portlaoise led by two points on the 59th minute, courtesy of Stuart Nerney in the 56th minute and Brian Mulligan in the 59th.

The match was a veritable thriller with both sides level at 1-10 apiece with five minutes to go.

Gary Comerford put the ball in the for Stradbally early in the second half.

Stradbally led by two points at half time on a scoreline of 0-9 to 1-4.


Bruno McCormack scored a goal for Portlaoise eight minutes in but bowed out to injury towards the end of the first half, with Adrian Kelly taking his place.
