Fresh from being crowned Irish Para Swimmer of the Year, Portarlington girl Nicole Turner claimed four medals at the British Short Course Para Swimming finals in Manchester over the weekend.

Remarkably, Turner also broke a world record over the weekend, in the 50m Butterfly, but did not get to set the record, as British swimmer Ellie Robinson broke it by a bigger margin in the same race.

Despite missing out on that particular piece of history, Nicole still enjoyed a remarkable weekend. She won four silver medals in the 100m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 50m Butterfly and 400m Freestyle. Her times in all four races were personal bests also.

Nicole will now be on a training block over Christmas and the early part of the New Year, before she competes in the Dave McCullagh Memorial Gala in Bangor next February.
