The Laois Minor Camogie team recently travelled to Lacken Celtic to play Cavan in the All Ireland Quarter Final.
They gave the home team an exhibition in Camogie, with all the Laois girls playing very well under the stewardship of Coach Johnny Campion and selectors Helen Collier and Mary Conroy.
Aoife Donovan kept a clean sheet in goals, helped by an impenetrable Laois defence led by Casey Conoy at Centre Back and Síle Burke at full back.
The midfield paring of Laura Marie Maher and Lorna Campion bossed the centre of the park for the entire game under tough conditions.
Captain Yvonne O’Neill led an impressive Laois attack and scored 2-2. She was flanked by Claire Fitzgerald who scored a brilliant goal in the second half.
Emma Phelan, who has settled in very well at full forward, got the first goal of the match and picked off a nice point just before the break. She was supported in the corners by Kelly O’Neill who showed how clinical she can be when she scored 2-1 in the first half. Niamh Coss scored three points in a row just before half time.
In the second half Lizzy Ryan came off the bench and showed great skill in clocking up two excellent goals. Laois must now await the outcome of the other all Ireland quarter finals before they will know who they will play in the All Ireland Semi Final this weekend/
