Close to 200 girls gathered at the Portlaoise grounds in Rathleague for the Laois Ladies Football County Under 10 Blitz.
Girls representing Ballyroan, Graiguecullen, Killeshin, Mountrath, Park/Ratheniska, Portlaoise, St. Conleths, St. Pauls, Sarsfields, Shanahoe, The Heath and Timahoe played out a feast of football in perfect weather conditions. The noncompetitive nature of the blitz ensured that the emphasis was on fun and improving football skills and this made for a very enjoyable day for all. When the matches were completed County Chairperson Mary Wheatley complemented all the girls on their performance and Ciara Burke, Cliodhna Dunne and Áine Haberlin, members of the Laois Minor team that recently won the All-Ireland B Championship, were on hand to present medals to all the girls.
The Laois County Board are very grateful to all the referees who gave of their time and to the Portlaoise club for the use of their grounds and for providing refreshments for all.
