Laois Senior Scór took place last Saturday in Camross Community Hall and although there was a poor turnout from the clubs, the talent on display was of a very high standard.
Margaret Conway of Clonaslee won the Solo Singing while Mountmellick won the Instrumental Music.
Mountrath came out on top in the Set Dancing while Colt were the smartest team in attendance winning the Question Time.
There were no particpants for Ceili Dancing, Recitation/Stroytelling, Ballad Group or Novelty Act.
All the winners, except for the table quiz winners, now go forward to a Leinster Senior Scór semi final in Oulart Community Centre in Gorey on Sunday, March 9 at 3pm. The table quiz winners go straight through to the Senior All Ireland, date to be advised.
The Scór committee would like to sincerely thank Camross G.AA for hosting the event and providing a much needed cuppa and refreshments. Thanks were also extended to Tommy for the sound and a special word of thanks to the clubs who participated in the event.
Elsewhere the Laois Scór na nÓg table quiz was run on Friday, February 21 in St Paul’s Primary School in Portlaoise.
Teams this year could have four members and the winning team automatically goes through to the All-Ireland in Castlebar, which will be ran on the morning of the All Ireland Scór na Nóg finals which is on next Saturday, March 1 at 12 noon.
Congratulations go to Rosenallis who defeated six other teams to get through to the All Ireland with an impressive total of 91 points out of a maximum 100. Following closely behind were Annanough on 86 with Mountmellick A third with 83 points. Four clubs were tied for fourth on 80 points which included The Harps, Clonaslee, Clough Ballacolla and Mountmellick B.

Also the Irish Cultural Committee of Laois GAA is inviting interested applicants to apply for a Gaeltacht Grant for 2014. Application forms can be downloaded from the Laois Website and can be sent to Michael Martin, Laois GAA, Parkside, Portlaoise, Co Laois. Closing dates for applicants is March 1.
