Laois strongman Tomás Cuddihy claimed five European titles recently at the World Drug Free Powerlifting Federations (WDFPF) single lift competition held in the Ukraine.
The event saw more than 500 lifters from all over the continent gather to compete for European titles.
Tomás was Ireland’s sole representative at the event but he was one of the undoubted stars of the show winning five golds and one silver medal.
Tomás squatted 227.5kg, bench pressed 150kg and deadlifted 250kg in the unequipped disciplines to win the squat and deadlift whilst coming second in the bench press. He went one better in the equipped lifts and won all three disciplines.
The next international competition for Irish Drug Free Powerlifters will be the World Full Powerlifting Championships to be held in Glasgow on the first weekend in November. Tomás Cuddihy has qualified for this competition as the reigning World Champion and he will be aiming to put in a good performance for Ireland.
