The county final for Handwriting took place on Friday, February 7 in Emo. There were 18 girls and 11 boys competing in the event.
The results were - Girls U-10 - 1st Ann Lawlor Emo/Rath; 2nd Sophia Coleman Portarlington; Joint 3rd Ava McNamara Killenard/Abbie Stapleton Killenard
Boys U-10 - 1st Richard McLoughlin Emo/Rath; 2nd William Barrett Killenard; Joint 3rd Sean Somers Killenard/Daithi Kehoe Killenard.
The committee and judges were delight by the standard of writing and the level of attendance at this open event The committee would like to congratulate the winner and well done to all who took part. The committee would also like to thank all who helped out at the event.
The next committee meeting will take place in Emo on February 17 at 7.30pm. All area art competitions are to be completed but not judged by February 17. Pictures completed by children from outside your area can be brought to the County Meeting for distribution to relevant areas.
Following this Area Art should be judged by February 24 and the county art final will take place on March 15. More details of venue to follow.
The deadline for entries for Badminton, handball (1 wall), Draughts, Chess, Table Tennis, Indoor Soccer and Modelmaking will also be February 17. The County Talents finals have been booked to take place on Saturday, April 12 at the Mountmellick Community Arts Centre details of starting time will be published in the coming weeks.
