Laois volunteers honoured at Community Games Awards

The Carlton Shearwater Plaza Hotel in Ballinasloe, Co Galway was buzzing with excitement and anticipation on Saturday, November 19 when volunteers from every corner of Ireland were rewarded for their hard work throughout 2011 at the HSE Community Games Area, Volunteer and Youth Awards Event.

The Carlton Shearwater Plaza Hotel in Ballinasloe, Co Galway was buzzing with excitement and anticipation on Saturday, November 19 when volunteers from every corner of Ireland were rewarded for their hard work throughout 2011 at the HSE Community Games Area, Volunteer and Youth Awards Event.

The awards are a celebration of the excellent work and dedication of volunteers from those areas within HSE Community Games that have achieved high levels of participation by children in a wide range of sports and cultural activities throughout the year.

Laois was represented by Deirdre Lawlor Emo-Rath for her excellent work which she gives to her area, Emo-Rath, Laois Communiy Games as Development Officer and also working at national level for the National Events. Deirdre was presented with the Adult Volunteer Award by Gerry Davenport, National President. Emo-Rath won the Area Involvement Award for Laois and also won a National Continuity Award for consistent high involvement in Community Games.

Claire Marie McGrath The Heath won the Youth Volunteer award training the girls Rounders team with Mr. Michael Dowling. She has put in great effort and work, and is a deserving recipent of this award.

Congratulations and well done to all the above on receiving their awards from everyone in Laois.
