The Laois Community Games 2012 AGM was held in Portlaoise Rugby Club on October 16th last.
Elected officers are as follows, President Margaret Carroll, St Marys Portlaoise,Vice President Sarah Moore Killenard, Chairman David Corri St Marys Portlaoise,Vice Chair Person Anita Allen Emo/Rath, Secretary Jane Walsh Killeshin, Treasurer Catherine Whelan The Heath and Pro Claire O Neill Stradbally.
A tribute was paid to Marie Waters who passed away recently who was a founding member of Laois community games and held various positions on committies at area, county and national levels
Winter programme of activities to include Art, Athletics [Cross Country], Cycling, Gymnastics, Modelmaking, Swimming. Talent Show,Choir and Draughts/Chess. Details available from each area committee members.
To all who competed,coached ,went on committies and fundraised for their local areas a special thank you. To the 220 Laois competitors who brought home 130 medals from the national finals this year well done and continued success.
2013 will hearld a change at national level as we revert to two weekends in Athlone with new events to be competed in and a change in competition lay out. The fundamental aim of community games in Laois however is to involve children at area level to compete to their ability and enjoy themselves.
