Laois Offaly Gardaí are advising motorists to plan their journeys

Laois Offaly Gardaí have issued a full list of St Patrick’s Day parade times across Laois and Offaly.  

They are urging motorists to be aware of the parades which  will lead to  road closures at different times of the day. 

“Communities across Laois and Offaly are preparing for a fantastic St Patrick’s Day with parades taking place throughout the day in towns and villages across both counties.

If you are travelling on Tuesday, please plan your journey in advance as temporary road closures and traffic delays will occur around parade routes.

Gardaí posted a list of the main parade start times across the Laois/Offaly Division. 

 Laois Parades

  • The Heath – 8:45am
  • Vicarstown – 9am
  • Killeshin – 9:30am
  • Timahoe – 10am
  • Ballyroan – 10:15am
  • Stradbally – 11am
  • Durrow   1.30pm
  • Clonaslee – 12pm
  • Mountrath – 12pm
  • Rathdowney 12pm
  • Portlaoise – 12:30pm
  • Rosenallis – 2:30pm
  • Portarlington – 3:00pm

Offaly Parades

  • Rhode – 10am
  • Mountbolus – 11am
  • Tullamore – 11:30am
  • Clara 12:30pm
  • Banagher – 3pm
  • Daingean – 1pm
  • Edenderry  2:30pm
  • Kilcormac – 3:30pm

Gardaí are advising motorists to expect road closures and diversions in town centres, allow extra time for your journey if travelling through parade areas and to follow the directions of Gardaí, stewards and event organisers. 

They also advised parents and guardians attending parades with children, to agree on a meeting point in case anyone becomes separated.

“Most importantly, enjoy the celebrations, support your local community groups and have a safe and happy St Patrick’s Day wherever you are celebrating,” Laois Offaly Gardaí stated.
