Planned local road closures announced as Laois prepares for the Electric Picnic

Local access will only be available to residents during the festival in Stradbally

Laois County Council has announced its intention to close roads in Stradbally during Electric Picnic 2025. 

The Council issued notice that it plans to close the  L3837 from Timogue Cross to Court Square, Stradbally and the  R42784 from Cahill's Cross to Abel's Corner in Stradbally from Thursday, August 28 at noon until Monday, September 1 at 4pm. 

The Council said only local access will be facilitated while the closures are in place and alternative routes will be available during the annual festival.

For traffic travelling from Ballyroan to Money Cross along the R427: “Turn left at Money Cross onto the R426. Continue on this road until you reach the roundabout with the N80 at Bloomfield crossroads. Turn right at the roundabout onto the N80. Continue travelling east along this road until you reach Stradbally.”

For traffic travelling from Timahoe (R426) to Stradbally:  “Travel via Money Cross onto the R426. Continue on this road until you reach the roundabout with the N80 at Broomfield crossroads. Turn right at the roundabout onto the N80. Continue travelling east along this road until you reach Stradbally.” 

For traffic travelling from the South-East to Stradbally: “At Simmons Mill crossroads, turn left onto the N78. Travel in a south westerly direction to Newtown Cross and turn right onto the R430 regional road to the Swan. Turn right on the north-western side of the Swan onto the R426 and continue until you reach Timahoe.”

Laois County Council said local access will be maintained and appropriate signage will be in place to divert traffic along the alternative routes.
