A hands-on traditional cobbling demonstration and historic paving talk took place at Stradbally Hall as part of this year's Heritage Week.  James Byrne Built Heritage Consultant and Archaeologist (Southgate Associates) discussed the role and materials of historic paving at Stradbally hall and in our towns and cities. Expert Craftsman and Master Plasterer Damien Condon (CALX) explained the uses and production of lime mortar and cobbling repairs. This was followed by a hands-on demonstration of traditional cobbling and repair in the historic stable yards of the 18th century Stradbally Hall.  This event, which was held on Wednesday, August 20, and the cobbling repair project have been made possible due to a Heritage Council Traditional Farm Buildings Grant. Photographer Alf Harvey attended and captured these photographs.
