New picnic furniture will be requested from Ireland's forestry company for the Oughaval Woods near Stradbally.
Fine Gael Cllr Vivienne Phelan requested the upgrade in a motion at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
She asked that Laois County Council write to Coillte requesting new picnic furniture for Oughaval Woods, including provision of wheelchair accessible spaces.
In response to the motion, Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan said a letter would be sent to the State forestry company.
Cllr Phelan was optimistic it would result in upgrade: “That’s great. Thankfully Oughaval is very well used”.
The Stradbally-based representative said she would like to see the existing furniture freshened up.
