Water restrictions in Laois as warm weather puts pressure on supply

The restrictions will be in place from 10pm to 7am starting on Wednesday, 27 May
Water restrictions are being introduced in Laois by Uisce Éireann as the continued warm weather has put pressure on water supplies in the county.
Uisce Éireann is introducing overnight restrictions for some customers supplied by the Ballyadams Reservoir which is part of the Kyle Water Scheme in an effort to safeguard daytime supply. The areas impacted include Ballylynan, Ballycorman, Ballyadams, Ballintubbert, Crannagh, and the surrounding areas.
The restrictions will be in place from 10pm to 7am starting on Wednesday, 27 May and will be in place each evening until further notice. They said the restrictions are necessary due to demand outstripping supply at the reservoir.
Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to normal levels. “ We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover.”
“Given the increased demand and dry weather, we need to ensure a daytime water supply is available for homes and businesses while we allow reservoir levels time to recover overnight. We continue to ask customers to be mindful of their water usage during this time.”
