Met Éireann has placed Laois under a Status Yellow rain warning which is set to saturate a large part of Ireland the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Widespread heavy rain is on the cards according to Met Éireann with the middle and country in the eye of a river of rain likely to washout some Bank Holiday plans.
The meteorological service has issued Status Yellow rain warnings Connacht and Cavan and a number of Leinster counties including Laois set to be hit.
A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Cork, Kerry and Waterford for Saturday.
The warning that covers Laois says Dublin, Laois, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Monaghan will endure spells of heavy rain from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon. It outlined the possible impacts:
The alert was issued on Thursday, August 3 and is valid from 6pm on Friday 1pm on Saturday.
The weather overview is for wet and very windy for a time on Friday night and Saturday. It will be changeable thereafter with some showers and further persistent rain on Monday.
For most of the country, Met Éirean's farming section says the week ahead will stay wetter than normal with rainfall between average and 3 times the average generally, with the wettest conditions expected in the west and southwest. MORE details below X.

Friday: The morning will be mainly dry with sunny spells and just a few showers. In the afternoon, cloud will increase. Rain will develop in the west and southwest and will extend eastwards to all areas through the evening with freshening south to southeast winds. Some heavy downpours in the west later with spot flooding likely. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees.
Cloudy and wet on Friday night with outbreaks of heavy rain, bringing the potential for spot flooding. It will turn windy overnight, especially in the west and south. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
Saturday: A wet and windy start on Saturday with outbreaks of rain and strong northwest winds. Rain will clear into the Irish Sea during the afternoon with sunny spells and scattered showers following for the remainder of the day. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with strong northwest winds, gradually moderating throughout the day. Becoming largely dry on Saturday night with clear spells and just a few showers, mainly confined to Atlantic coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate westerly winds.
Sunday: It looks set to be a bright day on Sunday with a mix of sunshine and showers, the showers most frequent in Ulster. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in a moderate west to northwest breeze. Mostly dry on Sunday night with clear spells and just a few showers in the northwest. However, towards dawn on Monday, rain will develop in west Munster. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze.
Bank Holiday Monday: Rain is expected to spread northwards over much of the country on Monday but some northern counties may stay dry. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in a moderate to fresh southwest winds. Further outbreaks of rain are expected on Monday night. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with fresh and gusty southwest winds.
Further Outlook: Changeable weather continuing into the middle of next week with rain or showers at times.
