Met Éireann has recorded hurricane-strength gusts caused by Storm Isha at its weather stations.
The forecaster recorded a gust of 128km p/h gust at Mace Head in Connemara at 8 pm on Sunday as the storm swept through Galway and other parts of the West. Belmullet on the Mayo coast was also hit with a gust of the same strength.
Gusts reaching 124 km p/h were recorded by Met Éireann at the same time in Donegal at Malin Head and Finer. A 120 km p/h gust was recorded at Knock on Sunday evening.
Average wind speeds approaching 100 km p/h were also recorded in Mace Head and Malin Head on Sunday night.
The Beaufort scale defines a storm as hurricane force when wind speeds exceed 118 km p/h.
Storm Isha caused Met Éireann to place Galway, Mayo and Donegal under Status Red warnings with the rest of the country on Status Orange. More below picture.

While the strongest impact of the storm is being felt on the west coast, Isha is causing damage and disruption right around Ireland as forecasted by Met Éireann.
