'Make the most of it' - Ireland weather u-turn on the cards as low pressure approaches
Ireland's badly needed dry and sunny spell looks certain to be shortlived with more heavy rain and strong winds in the forecast.
Meteorologist Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said that while more sunshine is expected across the country early in the week it's not going to last.
"Please make the most of the sunshine, as conditions become more unsettled from Wednesday onwards with low pressure exerting more of an influence on our weather with less in the way of sunshine," he said.
He outlined where the best weather is going to be before it breaks.
"The best chances of sunny spells will be across the Midlands, south and west as we see winds switch into a northerly direction.
"Temperatures during this period will range typically between 14-17 degrees Celsius, maybe up to 18 or 19 degrees still tomorrow in parts of the west and Midwest in particular. Winds will remain light, and northerly in direction."
Cathal goes on to say "uncertainty prevails" in his outlook for next weekend, "with the two main weather models split in terms of the outlook.
"ECMWF keeps it dry and mostly settled, GFS backs unsettled weather with a risk of strong winds and heavy rain," he saied.
