Met Éireann forecasting thunderstorms in week of muggy damp weather

Met Éireann forecasted rain arrived on cue - so what else is in store?

More rain and possible thunderstorms in Met Eireann forecast but it's not all bad

Thunderstorms are the standout feature in the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland but the forecast does not involve a prolonged spell of rain dominated weather.

The Met Eireann  outlook predicts scattered showers and light winds most days this week but it will also be mild with warm sunshine in parts too.

The latest Met Eireann weather forecast says it will be mostly cloudy across southern counties on Tuesday with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, giving way to showers towards evening. Sunnier breaks developing further north with scattered showers, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms across the midlands and west. Cloudier for a time in the north with patchy rain and drizzle there.

Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees, best values where sunny breaks occur in light to moderate east or northeast winds, fresher along southern coasts in the morning.

Drier conditions will develop in many regions on Tuesday night with clear spells and just well scattered showers. Lows of 7 to 10 degrees in light easterly breezes. Mist patches too.

Met Eireann says Wednesday will bring sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent in the Southwest with much of the North and Northeast staying dry. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, warmest across Connacht and Ulster, all with just light easterly breezes. Dry and mostly clear overnight with areas of mist and fog forming in near calm. Cool with lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Thursday will see sunshine and scattered showers once again and some will be heavy. Warm with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees but a little cooler at the coast as sea breezes develop.

Temperatures will fall back on Friday in moderate northwest winds with highs of 13 to 18 degrees, best values further south. Another day of sunny spells and scattered showers with some areas again staying fully dry.

Met Eireann adds that it will be a little cooler overall next weekend with sunny spells and well scattered showers.
