Laois County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team met again on Wednesday, January 8 to assess conditions locally as the county is braced for another night of sub-zero temperatures.
A status orange weather warning for low temperatures and ice comes into effect from 6pm on Wednesday evening and will remain in place until 11am on Thursday, January 9.
"Severe frost, icy stretches and freezing fog are likely tonight and over the coming days," said a Council spokesperson.
"Notwithstanding ongoing salting of rostered routes, motorists are urged to exercise caution on the road network, to slow down and to prioritise use of treated roads.
"Hazards remain on the road network and those hazards may not be as visible as they were in recent days.
"Check fog lights and use them appropriately. Exercise patience and avoid overtaking."
Met Eireann is again warning of dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays and animal welfare issues.
