Gardaí in Laois have issued an appeal to the public to exercise extreme caution as Storm Éowyn clears.
A status yellow wind warning remains in place until 4pm on Friday, January 24. During this time Met Eireann is warning of strong to near gale force westerly winds with further damaging gusts. The forecaster said this will result in hazardous travelling conditions, damage to already weakened structures and fallen trees. CONTINUE READING BELOW PHOTO

"An Garda Síochána, in collaboration with Laois and Offaly County Councils, is urging the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid all unnecessary travel during Storm Éowyn," said a Garda spokesperson.
"Roads and footpaths may be hazardous due to fallen trees, power lines, and debris. Please stay indoors and allow emergency services and local authority crews to respond to incidents. Stay informed by following official updates and safety advice."
