Laois temperatures to soar above 20°C this week- but there's a catch

Met Éireann have predicted that temperatures in Laois are expected to soar above 20°C this week- but don't grab your sunglasses just yet.

'Unsettled and showery conditions' are predicted for this week, along with a thunderstorm on Thursday evening.

Today: Monday June 9

Monday is cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, heaviest across Ulster. Drier weather across the far south outside of the odd spot of drizzle. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, in moderate to fresh southwesterly breezes.

Tonight:

Staying quite overcast with outbreaks of rain and occasional drizzle. The rain should gradually clear overnight but some mist patches will form. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with moderate westerly breezes.

Tomorrow: Tuesday June 10

Another mostly cloudy day with light patchy rain and drizzle, along with some isolated sunny spells, most likely over the northern half of the country. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, with mostly light southwest breezes.


Tuesday Night: Some clear spells early on, before cloud builds from the southwest, along with patchy outbreaks of light rain or drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees, with mostly light southerly breezes, allowing patches of mist or fog to develop.

Wednesday

 Cloudy with showers developing through late morning and into the afternoon. Showers may turn heavy at times. Feeling milder too with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees, in moderate southerly winds.

Wednesday night

Showers will continue overnight, with the continued chance of heavy bursts. Likely becoming overcast by dawn as showers ease. Mild with temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees. Breezy with moderate to fresh easterly winds.

Thursday

Heavy showers will likely continue through Thursday with the chance of some thunderstorms. Clearing to spells of sunshine by evening. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Friday

 Further outbreaks of heavy showers with fresh southerly winds. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.  Low pressure looks to dominate the weather with frequent showers over the weekend.
