LIVE: Laois hit with widespread disruptions as Storm Bram rips through country

There has been numerous disruptions in Laois as the county has been upgraded to a Status Orange wind warning for Storm Bram.

Met Éireann extended the Status Orange warning to the entire country on Monday night, December 8. The wind warning is valid in Laois from 11am to 7pm on Tuesday night, December 9. 

Already, Storm Bram has caused disruptions across the county. In an announcement on social media, Emo Court and Parklands said they would be closed on Tuesday due to the severe weather conditions.

TFI Local Link for Laois and Offaly have also advised passengers that the storm may cause some delays to its services on Tuesday. People have been advised to allow for extra time for their journeys. 

Some debris and fallen trees have also been reported, causing travel delays. Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather shared a photo on social media of a large tree blocking the Portlaoise Road near Tullamore.

More disruptions are expected throughout the day in Laois as Storm Bram is set to bring further strong to gale force gusts into Tuesday evening.

The National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management have advised the public to follow the advice of emergency services and local authorities. 

People are asked to check in with any vulnerable neighbours, take extra precautions when travelling, and stay away from swollen rivers or streams.
