Storm Chandra: wind, rain and spot flooding as Laois issued yellow weather warning

Met Éireann have upgraded Laois to a yellow weather warning, as Storm Chandra battles its way up from the southwest coast.

Ireland's weather advisory have warned that following recent rainfall resulting in waterlogged soils and overflowing rivers may lead to bouts of spot flooding.

Laois locals are told to be aware of difficult travel conditions, fallen trees, debris and displaced objects.

"Avoid open riverbanks, streams and canals as water may rise rapidly," they said.

"Do not try to walk, cycle or drive through flooded areas- turn back and use a different route," they advised.
