Laois County Council has granted a licence for Forest Fest in Emo Village this month.

The three day music festival is expected to attract 10,000 revellers daily when it takes place on the weekend of July 21 to 23.

It promises 80 acts including Suede, Paul Brady, Sister Sledge, Alabama 3, the Proclaimers and Bell X1 over the three days.

This year’s Forest Fest will include camping facilities for 7,500 people and there will be 1,500 people employed at the event between performers and staff. Forest Fest has already been granted a drinks and events licence.

Safents Consulting Ltd applied to Laois County Council for the licence to hold the event.

It will take place at Celtic Emo GAA grounds, Emo National School and various surrounding fields, with camping spaces opening on Thursday, July 20.

The event licence was granted subject to the organiser complying with 39 conditions covering a range of issues including traffic management, noise pollution, catering, waste and requirements for event personnel.
