Laois outdoor pool surprise reopening for hot weather

Get the togs out! Unseasonably hot sunny September temperatures have brought about the surprise reopening of the outdoor public swimming pool in Laois.

Ballinakill Outdoor Pool, a community run venture, had closed for the winter on August 28, but they have announced a temporary reopening this Wednesday, September 5, with temperatures continuing to hit the mid 20s since last Friday.

"In good old Irish fashion, the sun has finally decided to shine and that means we've decided to REOPEN!! This evening, we'll open for sessions at 5 and 6:30.

"We hope to open at the same times tomorrow and Thursday, depending on the level of interest, so get on down and make the most of the sunshine while we have it," they say.

Met Éireann are forecasting warm days and temperatures of 25 and 26 degrees in Laois for the rest of this week.
