On Friday June 14, Laois Vintage Limited launched their 27th Annual Sponsored Vintage Road Run in aid of Laois Hospice.
The launch took place in Treacy's Bar and Restaurant, The Heath. The official Vintage Road Run will take place on Saturday August 17, kicking off from Treacy's at 10am.
"Each year the response for our Vintage Road Runs has been excellent, where vintage enthusiasts look forward to the opportunity of driving, their lovingly restored cars, bikes and indeed tractors on the open road, while at the same time raising much needed funds for this very necessary and worthwhile charity," said event organisers.
Since their inception in 1996, Laois Vintage has raised and donated €1,063,919.00 to Laois Hospice.
"This outstanding achievement could not, or would not, have been achieved without the help of our exceptionally dedicated vintage enthusiasts, bucket collectors, and sponsors, who, year after year, give so generously of their time and money. So, our sincere and appreciative thanks to all," organisers have said.
This year's Car Run will involve the visiting a private museum at Two-Mile-Borris, Thurles, where a display of beautifully restored vehicles await.
The Tractor Run will take a shorter route, travelling through Portarlington, Killenard, Emo and other areas. There will be an official stop-off at the Railway Bar Portarlington for light refreshments.
All vehicles will return to Treacy’s, between 3.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m., where complimentary meals, hosted by the Treacy family, will be served, and Commemorative plaques distributed to each participant.

"As always, we like to assure all our sponsors and supporters that all monies raised by Laois Vintage will be donated directly to Laois Hospice," said the group.
"Members of the public, who give so generously, can be confident that each and every donation received will go solely and exclusively to Laois Hospice care.
Remember the date, Saturday August 17 at Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant. So do come along and join us, as a memorable day is always guaranteed. Anyone not having joined us in the past, or having not received an Entry Form, are always very welcome to join us, however a donation on the day towards Laois Hospice will be appreciated," organisers finished.
