Thought provoking exhibition set to open in Laois

Curators David Delaney and Ciara Buckley

An eye opening exhibition is set to open in the Dunamaise Arts Centre next week.

12, a powerful and thought-provoking exhibition exploring themes of addiction and recovery, will open at Dunamaise Arts Centre on Sunday, January 19 and run until Saturday, March 22.

Curated by Ciara Buckley and David Delaney,  the free exhibition aims to shed light on the lived experiences of addiction and the journey toward recovery, 12 brings together a diverse collection of portrait photography, artworks,

personal narratives, and creative expressions. Through a range of media, the exhibition hopes to challenge stigma, spark conversation, and offer insight into the complexities of addiction.

The exhibition is a testament to resilience, showcasing the voices of individuals who have navigated addiction, families affected by substance misuse, and the broader community impacted by these experiences. The title 12 is a nod to the significance of structured support systems and the transformative power of creative expression in the healing process.

Visitors to Dunamaise Arts Centre will have the opportunity to engage with the artwork in an immersive setting, reflecting on the societal and personal dimensions of addiction. The exhibition also aligns with ongoing initiatives in Laois to promote awareness, support services, and pathways to recovery.

12 runs from Sunday, January 19 to Saturday,  March 22 and is open to the public free of charge. For more information about the exhibition, featured artists, and related events, visit www.thatday.ie.

The exhibition is supported by Creative Ireland Laois and Laois Arts Office
