Laois pup to represent county in 2025 Nose of Tralee final!

A Laois pup has been selected to represent Laois at the 2025 'Nose of Tralee' festival from Pet Sitters Ireland.

Anna the American Hairless Terrier will go on to represent her county with pride.

With hundreds of pets entered nationally, Anna is one of 32 to make it to the final.

"Hi, my name is (Princess) Anna. I’m an American Hairless Terrier. Who needs hair when you’ve got flawless skin," her biography read.

"I’m 9 months old. I’m full of energy and I love to talk, everywhere I go, I yap, yap, yap, yap  because I’m so happy to see everyone. I wear clothes a lot of the time because it gets cold and I wear factor 50 sun cream because I can get burned easily. Blankets are my favourite thing and I love toys.

"I love being carried around and I can sit comfortably on your shoulder when you’re walking around. I have three brothers, two of them are hairless like me and two sisters. I have 6 cousins (cats) four are hairless like me. We all have loads of clothes in our wardrobe. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me," it finished.

Now in its 12th year, the Nose of Tralee celebrates pets of all shapes and sizes across Ireland – from pampered pooches and curious cats to birds, bunnies, horses, hedgehogs, and even bearded dragons.

The competition shines a spotlight on the pets who bring joy, comfort, and laughs to our lives – and this year’s entries have been nothing short of heartwarming.

The 32 finalists will then next part in the final public vote, running from July 24 to August 18. The winner of the 2025 Nose of Tralee will be announced on August 19!

"The response this year has been incredible," said Kate McQuillan, organiser of the Nose of Tralee.

"We’ve loved seeing the variety of pets enter and reading their stories. It’s not just cats and dogs in the spotlight anymore – our voters are rallying behind all kinds of amazing animals.

"This weekend is the final push before voting closes, and we can't wait to see who makes it through!" she finished.

Finalists and winners will receive fantastic prizes from a host of Irish competition sponsors, including Pet Sitters Ireland and David MCauley Photography.
