People across Laois are invited to take part in Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night 2025 next Friday, November 21.

Oíche na hÓige is a new national celebration of young people and the youth sector which has been created by Minster for Education and Youth Helen McEntee, the Education and Training Boards, the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) and the youth work sector.

The event will see youth clubs, services and community groups across Laois and Offaly host local gatherings to celebrate the energy, creativity, and achievements of young people, as well as the vital work of youth workers and volunteers.

This new celebration of Ireland's young people will offer a range of events for people to enjoy right across the country, from music performances, to art exhibitions, discos, storytelling, and more.

People across Laois and Offaly are invited to join youth clubs and community groups who are marking the night in a variety of ways across the counties with exciting events.

Among the events on offer, Mountrath Scout Group will host a ‘Come and Try’ event at Coole Hill in Castletown at 7pm. Youth Work Ireland Laois will also celebrate Youth Night at Unit D, JFL House in Portlaoise from 6pm to 11pm.

Ballyroan Youth Club, Foróige Portlaoise UBU Youth Service, Mountrath Youth Theatre, and CCÉ Cill Chaomhain will also all be hosting their own celebrations on the night across the county.

Then in Tullamore, St. Mary's Youth Club and Community Centre will host 'A Night at the Musicals' at St Mary's Youth Club and Community Centre on Harbour Street.

Commenting on the new initiative, Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee said: "Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night is about shining a light on the amazing contribution young people make to their communities — and the adults who support them every day.

"Hundreds of events are happening and I encourage young people, their families and communities to have a look at what is available and join in with some of the great events being run by youth services, showing what is available all year round."

She added: "I hope that through Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night, thousands of young people will get to experience youth services in their area."
