The Ballinakill Vintage & Classic Owners Club will again host the Indoor Motor Show in the Laois Shopping Centre, Portlaoise on Sunday, October 30.

The show, which is free to the public, features a special exhibition of Edwardian vehicles, and a request is now being made for all interested, including a vehicle manufactured before 1918 in this display, to make contact as soon as possible.

A competition this year is for the best dressed person in Present Day or Edwardian Dress. The special prize for the best dressed is a Diamond Ring valued over €1,000.

Michael Collin’s Sliabh na mBan will be on display as a special feature.

There will be prizes/trophies for ‘Best Club Stand’, ‘Best Edwardian Car’, ‘Best Classic’ and ‘Best Overall Car’, as well as some surprise prizes and raffles during the day. Television actors from “ Fair City” will also attend the event to meet and greet visitors and all prize giving will commence at 4pm, while raffles will take place at 3pm.

Last year’s show was an overwhelming success, however, over 90 classic cars that weren’t pre-booked had to be turned away. To prevent disappointment, the show organisers have decided to keep the traditional entry cut-off year to pre-1980 for single entries, and up to 1986 for club entries.

Single cars arriving on Saturday will be regarded as ‘pre-booked’. All individual exhibitors not involved with a pre-booked club will be welcome, and can avail of entry to the show with a charitable donation of €10 in aid of the Alzheimer’s Association, with the welcome assistance of the Lions Club.

Sunday entry closes at 10:30am for single cars, and gates to the exhibition space will close at 11.30am. No more vehicles will be allowed to enter once the exhibition space is full.

An ‘all-engines-off’ policy will apply during the show. All club exhibits are to be in place, set up, before 7pm on Saturday, October 29, and cars cannot leave the show space until 4.30pm on Sunday the 30th.

For Saturday entry and set up, clubs must know their numbers, know how much space they need, be ready to set up banners on Saturday and have booked by email before October 27th. Exhibition space will not be guaranteed after this date. No fee will apply to pre-booked clubs.

This event is fully covered by public liability insurance; however all vehicles entering must provide their own valid insurance and complete indemnity forms.

There will be a collection for the Alzheimers Society
