Laois school Confirmation cancelled due to #BeastFromTheEast and #StormEmma

The pupils at St Colman's National School in Stradbally were due to make their Confirmation on Saturday, March 3.

The Confirmation in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally has now been cancelled due to the severe weather as Laois lies under a blanket of snow ahead of the arrival of Storm Emma.

The Confirmation will be rescheduled for another date but no new date has been announced yet. 

Widespread snow in Laois, Dublin, Kildare, Offaly and other Leinster counties before #stormemma hits.

Due to the severe weather conditions in Laois on Thursday and Friday Portlaoise Parish has decided to close the church for a time.

In line with the weather warning, St. Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaoise will close at 3pm on Thursday and reopen on Saturday, March 3 for 10am Mass, conditions permitting.

Due to weather conditions the First Friday Masses in the Heath and Ratheniska are cancelled this Friday evening. Masses as per usual schedule in Parish Church.

Bingo at St. Mary’s Hall Portlaoise has been cancelled on Thursday and Friday.

As a result, the Portlaoise Parish Lotto Draw will now take place at 3pm in the Parish Centre on Thursday March 1. Please ensure that all tickets are returned to the parish centre before 2.30pm.
