A new exhibition of work by a local artist exploring nature and natural forms runs this month in the gallery in Abbeyleix Library.
Monica O' Meara is an emerging artist from Roscrea. Having previously hosted successful solo exhibitions in Abbeyleix Library Gallery, she is returning there with an exhibition entitled ‘A Fine Line’.
Introducing new work, this exhibition explores the subtle differences, contrasts and opposites that exist in nature through landscape and natural forms.
Using a variety of different media, the work investigates these contradictions such as strength and fragility that co-exist in the natural world. The work is primarily inspired by nature and natural forms.
Media and process are varied: painting, sculpture, ceramic, mixed media and print. Themes connect and recur within the different media creating a bridge between pieces.
Having studied Art, Craft and Design in Abbeyleix FEC for two years, Monica is continuing her studies and is now in the final year of the degree programme in Limerick School of Art and Design.
She has exhibited in group exhibitions over the years in locations in Tipperary, Laois and Offaly, and this is her third solo exhibition.
The exhibition runs at Abbeyleix Library Gallery until August 31. The gallery is close Sunday and Monday and open the rest of the week from 9.30am.
