A seminar to promote integration, celebrate diversity, and tackle discrimination in multicultural Laois will soon take place in Portlaoise Parish Centre.
Laois Integration Network has organised the seminar for Friday March 22.
'Laois as a Place of Sanctuary and Welcome' will have speakers to discuss migrant participation, civic participation, intercultural awareness, voter awareness, racism, discrimination and reporting procedures.
They include Sgt David McInerney from the Garda National Diversity and Inclusion unit, and Ken McCue of Sport Against Racism Ireland, Tiffy Allen from Place of Sanctuary Ireland, and Salome Mgugua from akiDwA.
“The seminar is intended to promote integration and celebrate the diversity of Laois,” the network said.
Tea and coffee and Moroccan-themed lunch will be provided.
The event is free but booking is essential. It takes place from 10am to 2pm. Contact 087 977 5080 or email karen.mchugh1@hotmail. co.uk
