The Heritage Council has issued an invite to organisations, individuals, businesses and community groups to get involved in National Heritage Week 2019, which takes place from August 17 to August 25.
National Heritage Week is a celebration of Ireland's built, natural and cultural heritage and aims to generate awareness, appreciation and preservation of our wonderful resources.
This year The Heritage Council’s chosen theme for Heritage Week is the celebration of Pastimes and Past Times. Event organisers are encouraged to take a stroll through history and explore the unique ways in which we choose to spend our free time and how this has evolved throughout the years.
Catherine Casey, Heritage Officer with Laois County Council said: “Every year the interest in Heritage Week grows, and this year with the theme of Pastimes, Past Times I know there is going to be a huge number of imaginative and creative events for all to celebrate the heritage of Laois.”
