The death has taken place of Patricia (Trish) Sheppard (nee O’Brien) Ballyouskill, Attanagh. Patricia is deeply regretted by her husband John, daughters Laura and Stephanie; mother, brother, sisters, grandmother, relatives and many friends. Removal took place on Thursday, 12th September last to the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill where requiem mass was celebrated by Fr Pat O’Farrell PP Lisdowney; Canon Tom Murphy PP, Ballyragget and Canon Sean O’Doherty PP Durrow. Burial took place afterwards in Durrow cemetery. Her passing at a relatively early stage in life after an illness bravely borne has caused widespread regret. We extend sincerest sympathy to her family, relatives and friends.
Attanagh obtained 246 marks in this year’s competition which is an increase of five marks on last year’s results. Many thanks to all those who helped out this year in any way (in particular Alison, Sue, Padraig and Walter) with flower planting, weed control, litter picking etc. The village was highly commended as being a litter free area and Kieran Holland has to stand out for special mention in the way he has patrolled the roads over the summer months continuously collecting litter recklessly thrown from car windows. It is a little disappointing that the village is has been judged in early June and therefore they do not see the village when plants and flowers are in full bloom however, we are very pleased with the result.
