Local residents and families are calling for the installation of a playground in Killeshin.
The community has come together to advocate for a safe and accessible space for children to play and exercise at a recently held public meeting.
"We believe that a playground is an essential part of any community," said Eoin Barry, Local Area Representative of the Labour Party, Eoin Barry, a spokesperson for the group advocating for the playground.
"It provides a place for children to socialise, learn, and stay active, and it gives parents and caregivers a safe place to take their children to play. We want to see a playground in Killeshin County that is inclusive and accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities,” said Mr Barry.
Despite the large number of houses that have been built in Killeshin in recent years there is currently no publicly accessible playground in the area.
A playground in Killeshin would provide a much-needed recreational space for local children and families, and would also serve as a community gathering place, the group say.
The group advocating for the playground is working to secure funding and find an appropriate location for the playground. They are also encouraging community members to get involved and support the effort.
“We need the support of the entire community to make this playground a reality," Mr Barry said.
"We are asking residents to reach out to their local officials and let them know that a playground in Killeshin County is important to them.
