We are holding a presentation night for our 2014 U16 Team on Saturday January, 24 at 7pm in Rathdowney GAA Rooms. Registration for all U16 players for 2015 will also be available on the night. Registration will take place of all other age groups the following Saturday night January 31, in Rathdowney GAA Rooms at 7.30pm till 8.30pm. All new members are welcome.


There was no winner in this week’s jackpot which was € 7,600. The numbers drawn were 1, 21, 22, 27. The 10 winners of €15 were Rita Coss, Louise Rafter, Pete Butler, Mickey Whelan, Kathleen Dunne, David Campion, Patrick Mahon, Sean Keyes, Joe Ellis, Lisa Corrigan. Next week’s jackpot will be €7,750. Tickets can be purchased in all shops or from any local promoter.

The club would like to thank Brian Campion, who has opted off the Laois panel this year, for his many years of commitment and dedication to the county and wish him well in the coming years. We are sure they are big boots to fill for Cheddar and his players.


The CYMS is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30pm onwards with many tournaments being run through-out the week. Membership fees can be given to any committee member, families €30, seniors €20 and juniors €10.

Condolences to the family of the late Mary Hetherington (née Behan) of Harristown, Rathdowney who died on January 14 peacefully at Portlaoise, Hospital. Deeply regretted by her sons and daughers, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney. Removal to the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for Funeral Mass followed by burial in Bealady cemetery.
