School auction

Scoil Bhríde will hold a fundraising auction on Sunday February 1 to raise money for their Sensory Room upgrade. Unwanted toys, gifts, household goods or any other suitable items can be dropped to the school over the next three weeks. All donations greatly appreciated.


The village primary school is finalising numbers for the school year 2015 –2016. Will parents of all Junior infants for September 2015 contact the school in writing over the next few weeks, giving child’s name, address, date of birth and PPS number and your own contact number. Forms will be given later in year for all those who make contact now. Call 057-864-8334 between 2pm and 4pm for details.


The following were discussed at the monthly meeting: new website, social night for CCDA members on February 12, Hospice walk, congratulations to the organizing committee for a job well done. Christmas light collection to date is €750, new electricity meters were erected for the lights. Election for new CCDA committee to take place during 2015, jobs in the community for Fas workers, work needed on roads and river. We received a thank you card from former Fas supervisor Patricia Sheed. Also work done over the past year includes fire and burglar alarms, heating system needs to be changed and toilets redone. Vote of sympathy to all who lost loved ones recently. Next CCDA meeting is February 9 in the Community Centre. Open to all from the community.

Members were deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected death of one of our most loyal players, Nora Conroy, Clarahill. Nora was an excellent whist player and extremely popular with all the players in Clonaslee and surrounding venues where she was a regular supporter. At our whist on Sunday night prayers were offered for the repose of her soul, may she rest in peace.
