Laois town fundraising for hospice in memory of talented teen

A young Laois teenager who died last December after a brave fight with cancer, is being remembered on the month of his birthday in his town.
Eoin Coss should have celebrated his 15th birthday on St Patrick's Day, March 17. He died on December 10, to the grief of his family, friends and community.
The teenage soccer and GAA star, beloved by his family and community and sports clubs far and wide, is being especially remembered with several local fundraisers for the national children's hospice.
Mountmellick Community School is holding three days of events, to raise funds for the Laura Lynn children's hospice, in memory of Eoin.
Eoin's best friends have asked people to donate, in a video.
"This year we are raising money for Laura Lynn Children's Hospice in memory of our best friend Eoin Coss. Laura Lynn provides care to children with life limiting conditions and their families throughout Ireland. Please help us raise as much money as we can," Eoin's friends say.
On Wednesday, March 29 they will hold their annual sponsored walk in aid of the children's hospice charity.
Then on Thursday, March 30, the students from the school will hold a bucket collection in the town for the public to show their support to the charity in memory of Eoin.
On Friday the school will hold a 'Mini EP Experience' for students, with a fun and games zone, music and entertainment, face painting and hair braiding, baked treats and much more, again with a collection for Laura Lynn.
Meanwhile Mountmellick United FC and Mountmellick GAA Club and Mountmellick Community School had planned to hold an Eoin Coss Memorial Match on March 18 in Conor Davis Park.
The match was deferred due to water logged pitches, with no new date yet confirmed.
The event will be a match with a team of Eoin's Soccer coaches, GAA coaches and Teachers versus his U16 club team mates and friends.
There will be a gate collection taken for the Laura Lynn children's hospice, and refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse.
