Laois communities vintage fans raises thousands of  local health charities

Presentations to Laois Hospice, Teac Tom and SOSAD.

Vintage vehicle enthusiasts in the Ballyroan area presented nearly €9,000 to local charities the provide vital health services in Laois and beyond.

The money is the proceeds of the Tom Kinsella Memorial Run organised by Ballyroan and Knock Vintage Clubs. Members of the Kinsella family / vintage club and participants presented the cheque to Mary Finlay (Laois Hospice treasurer) and other Laois Hospice committee members present.

Apart from the funds raised from the Christmas event, the Ballyroan Vintage club had a busy night at the end of March 31 when they presented the proceeds from their October 2022 road runs to local charities. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

In total, the club donated €3000 which was split between Teac Tom and SOSAD. The extended a huge thank you to all who supported and donated.

Tom Kinsella was a respected member of the local vintage car community until he passed away in 2015 after a long battle with cancer. His family has been organising this popular event in the years since and raising funds for a charity that is very close to their hearts.

The Laois Hospice Foundation has helped to provide a palliative care service for cancer patients whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. The hospice also provides support for the families of such patients.

Teac Tom is a Kilkenny based mental health counselling service which has an outreach centre in Stradbally.

SOSAD is suicide bereavement support service which has a centre in Portlaoise. 

Ballyroan Vintage Club is holding its 30th annual rally on May 21 in the Ballyroan GAA grounds.
