The Clonaslee St Stephen's Day Walk volunteers gathered in April to present cheque for more than €30,000 to the Laois Hospice Foundation to fund the vital care the charity provides.
A grand total of €32,098 was accepted by Mary Delaney, Chairperson Laois Hospice, on Friday, April 12 in the Clonasee Heritage Centre.
Both parties were absolutely delighted with the excellent response and thanked everyone for their very generous donations.
Sheila Bourke, co-ordinator of the annual festive walk, thanked everyone involved for all their hard work in making the day such a wonderful success, she also thanked all our loyal sponsors for their continued support over the years.
“We have completed our 30th year of walking and contributed over €1 million euro to Laois Hospice,” she said. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

Mary was delighted to accept the funds raised and thanked the people of Clonaslee for organising one of the biggest fundraisers yearly for Laois Hospice. She acknowledged the excellent contribution of Seamus O'Donoghue previous Chairperson of Laois Hospice and he too had accepted many cheques from the Clonaslee group over many years.
Mary outlined to the group the services provided by Laois Hospice, which is a voluntary organisation, and every penny goes to provide palliative care and night nursing services in a home environment for those people who wish to live out their lives in their own homes. Mary also paid tribute to the people who were there from the very beginning and have now gone to their eternal rest. MORE BELOW PICTURE.
